Productrise reports that matched products carried a 21.6% higher average lead price in Google AI Mode than in traditional search. Its study tracked more than 2 million listings across over 100,000 search results and AI responses from August 9 to 31.

The company ran product-focused queries in the U.S. and U.K. and matched results using Google’s product identifiers. It compared the first listed offer for the same query and calendar day, rather than checking the cheapest offer available from every seller.

Different sellers appeared in 49.6% of matched pairs. The study also includes cases where a used item was compared with a new one, and it notes that extreme price differences skew some averages.

Productrise sells product-visibility tracking software and produced the research from its own database. The results describe displayed offers during that period, not checkout spending or proof that Google intentionally favors expensive products.
