Relay gives coding agents running on your computer a remote interface for a phone, browser or desktop. A small server runs beside your projects, while the client streams replies and lets you cancel a turn or reopen a conversation without stopping work when you change screens.
Claude Code and Codex are its primary integrations. OpenCode and Hermes support is marked experimental. The agents must already be configured on the host computer; Relay does not sign into their services for you. Each device gets its own encrypted, revocable access credential.
The interface includes conversation history and file browsing. Multiple agents can also work in a shared transcript, with separate roles and controls for each participant.
Relay is MIT-licensed and self-hosted, but it does not isolate an agent from the host operating system. Agents and terminal commands inherit the server user’s permissions. The project recommends a restricted user account and HTTPS for deployments reachable over the public internet.
