Meta introduced WhatsApp Business Tools MCP on September 15, allowing a compatible coding agent to help configure business messaging. The connection gives an authorized agent access to setup and management operations that previously required moving between several Meta interfaces.
The supported work includes creating a WhatsApp Business account, adding and verifying its phone number, and registering it for the Cloud API. Merchants can also describe a message template they want the agent to create or edit.
The tools can help test messages and webhooks and inspect setup problems involving payment methods, terms of service or business verification. Meta’s separate Social Technologies MCP can assist with API discovery and troubleshooting alongside the WhatsApp-specific server.
The merchant authorizes the connection to its business account. Account verification and the platform’s existing requirements still apply when an agent performs the setup.
