Google announced Gemini 4 Argon on September 30, positioning the new frontier model for long-running coding, professional knowledge work and defensive cybersecurity. The first rollout is deliberately narrow: Google is giving access to a set of trusted cyber defenders through its Fairwind Program while it continues safety testing. Google's announcement
Argon's output limit is one million tokens, up from the previous 64,000-token limit. Google says it is already using the model internally for large code migrations, research and data-center optimization, but those examples are company-reported rather than independent tests.
Introductory API pricing is $2 per million input tokens and $10 per million output tokens, with cached input priced at 95% below the standard input rate. Google says the price will later rise to $4 input and $20 output per million tokens.
Google says it plans to expand first to paid API customers and Google AI Ultra subscribers after the initial testing phase.
