Google introduced Pics on September 1, 2026, bringing AI image creation and editing into Workspace. You can open pics.new, create an image from a prompt or import one from your computer, Drive or Google Photos.

Pics includes tools for changing individual objects without rebuilding the entire image. Text inside a design can be edited, reformatted or translated; images can be cropped for different layouts and upscaled to 2K or 4K. Google also supports multiple edits and a history for undoing unwanted changes.

Select an image in Docs or Slides and Pics can open its editing tools without a separate export and upload. Teams can share design links and collaborate, with closer Drive editing planned for the weeks following launch.

Access is limited by subscription. Google lists Workspace Business Standard and Plus, Enterprise Standard and Plus, Google AI Pro and Ultra personal plans, and Google AI Pro for Education among the eligible tiers. Availability began rolling out September 1, so a qualifying account might not have received Pics immediately.
