Meta is rolling out Muse, a personal AI agent, to U.S. users on iOS, Android and the web. It also works through WhatsApp and can continue tasks after someone closes the app.
The agent can browse websites, fill out forms and work toward goals such as arranging travel or lowering a bill. Meta says Muse asks for approval before sensitive actions, including sending an email or making a purchase. Users can inspect its activity and change access to connected services.
Each user gets a dedicated cloud virtual machine. Meta says a separate Sentinel agent checks outbound actions, while credentials are stored outside Muse’s direct view. The company also says conversations and VM data stay out of its advertising systems; model-training use has an opt-out.
A further Confidential VM, which Meta says would prevent even the company from accessing its contents, is planned for later in the year. That protection is not part of the initial rollout.
