Investor Colin Edsman has divided his portfolio work among separate Claude agents for research, monitoring and reporting. A September 6 Wall Street Journal report published by Hindustan Times describes the agents running from his laptop.

Brokerage connections can go beyond research. Robinhood’s May 27 announcement introduced an equities-only beta that let customers connect an agent to a separately funded account. The company described trade notifications, an activity feed and a way to disconnect the agent. Orders could be placed without the customer giving instructions for every transaction.

An April 2026 NBER working paper collected daily stock recommendations from several language models. The portfolios were poorly diversified and leaned toward large companies, momentum and stocks receiving more media attention. The authors did not find statistically significant abnormal returns under their comparison method.

The study did not test Edsman’s agents or Robinhood’s agent-connected brokerage.
