Vercel AI Gateway lets teams give each member a separate spending allowance. The limit covers API keys attributed to that person and their app tokens, blocking new requests once the allowance is exhausted.
A default budget applies separately to members without a custom limit, including people added later. A custom budget overrides that default for one person. Resets can be daily, weekly, monthly or disabled.
Per-user budgets do not replace project, key or team limits. A request must fit every applicable budget, and spending through bring-your-own-key credentials is excluded from user budgets.
Vercel also warns that keys created before this feature were attributed to the team. Teams need newly attributed keys before relying on per-user limits to constrain that existing traffic.
