Anthropic is adding a Chromium-based browser to Claude Cowork on macOS, Windows and Linux. The feature is rolling out to paying Pro, Max and Team subscribers, The New Stack reports.
The browser has its own profile rather than inheriting every account signed into a person’s usual browser. For tasks on a page already open in Chrome, the existing Claude extension remains an option. Installed extensions stay the default unless the user changes the desktop app’s browser preference.
Users can import supported browser logins, with the source browsers differing by operating system. Banking, email and single-sign-on sites are excluded from the default import.
Anthropic warns that safeguards do not eliminate prompt-injection risk from web pages. A separate profile reduces automatic access to everyday accounts; it does not make every page safe for an agent to follow.
