Google opened early access to its Google Home MCP server on September 16, letting compatible agents work with connected home devices and their event history. The first rollout is for Google Home Premium Advanced subscribers in the US, a tier listed at $20 per month in the announcement reporting.

The connection can support tasks such as reviewing camera summaries, checking smart-home activity, controlling compatible devices and building a custom home dashboard. Google describes support for devices in its Home ecosystem, including Nest equipment and compatible Matter devices.

Setup requires a Google Cloud project configured for Home MCP. The user supplies the connection details to the agent, signs in and grants permissions; the agent does not gain control merely because it supports the protocol.

Access is rolling out over the following weeks. Google did not provide a timetable for other countries or subscription tiers.
