ElevenLabs and Universal Music Group announced a multi-year licensing and product-development agreement on September 10. Their first planned platform would let fans make remixes, mashups and other interpretations of work from participating artists and songwriters.

The service is still in development, with no public launch date in the announcement. Personalized vocal experiences are among its intended uses. Participation and licensing will determine which music can be used; the deal does not open Universal's entire catalog to unrestricted remixing.

ElevenLabs says the platform will be separate from its existing Music API and ElevenMusic app, which handle original music generation and editing. Their current access and export terms do not establish what the future remix service will permit.
